There are a number of diverse applications for non-intrusive electomagnetic imaging and measurement techniques in defence.

Aerospace
Measurement of liquids such as fuel, oxidiser and lubricants in flight, and in zero g presents particular challenges.  Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) is ideally suited to measure non-conducting liquids, including cryogenic fuels and oxidizers, and can provide real-time imaging of mass distribution and flow rates.

Land mines and buried ordinance
Instruments based on Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT), Magnetic Inductance Tomography (MIT) and other non-intrusive electomagnetic imaging and measurement techniques can be used to detect buried explosives, including those containing little of no metal which may be invisible to traditional mine detectors.
